A preliminary 4.3-magnitude earthquake was reported near Blackhawk in Contra Costa County on Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Another 3.5-magnitude earthquake followed shortly after.
The first quake registered at 1:11 p.m. Tuesday and was centered 7.5 miles east of Blackhawk near the Los Vaqueros Reservoir in Contra Costa County. It could be felt through much of the East Bay, according to the USGS.
