A man who died after a shooting in San Francisco’s Bayview District last week has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 30-year-old Donte Hayes.
Hayes was critically injured in the shooting reported at 8:33 a.m. last Thursday in the area of the Alice Griffith Apartments at Arelious Walker Drive and Fitzgerald Avenue, police said.
A witness had called police to report gunshots and a white SUV speeding away. Officers responded and found Hayes, who was taken to a hospital and died a day later.
San Francisco Supervisor Shamann Walton, who represents the Bayview and other surrounding neighborhoods, said Hayes’ death is the sixth homicide so far this year in his district.
