Walnut Creek considers rezoning for condominium project

The Walnut Creek City Council will on Tuesday night consider approving rezoning and other changes to allow for a 17-unit condominium project to be built near downtown.

Vacaville-based Blue Mountain Enterprises wants to combine three properties at the south end of Carmel Drive immediately east of downtown Walnut Creek and build a 17-unit condominium development.

The plan includes a request to merge the three existing parcels together to form a 23,285-square-foot site, which would require a rezoning from “multi-family residential” to “planned development” status and various other modifications.

The cul-de-sac currently hosts several single-family houses. City staff recommends that the Council approve the rezoning and accompanying adjustments.

The city’s Design Review and Planning Commissions have already recommended that the City Council approve the project. Even if the council approves the project, Blue Mountain would still need several other approvals from the city before any construction could begin.

The City Council meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 1666 N. Main St.
