Two Oakland high school girls basketball teams honored at State Capitol

Two state champion girls high school basketball teams from Oakland will travel to the State Capitol in Sacramento on Monday where they will be honored by state assemblymembers and a state senator from the East Bay, according to district officials.

The Oakland High School and Oakland Technical High School girls basketball teams – the Division 3 and 4 state champions, respectively – will be honored by State Sen. Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, and State Assemblymembers Rob Bonta, D-Oakland, and Buffy Wicks, D-Oakland, on the floors of the State Senate and State Assembly.

The girls won the titles at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento in early March against teams from Southern California.
