Fire crews rescue stuck climber from cliffside near Presidio

A man was rescued from the side of a cliff near San Francisco’s Presidio Monday night, having climbed there and then found it impossible to climb back up, the San Francisco Fire Department said.

The rescue began about 4:30 p.m. Monday near the Langdon Court parking area, about a third-mile south of the Golden Gate Bridge, after the stuck man started yelling for help, firefighters said.

Firefighters carrying out a “high angle rope rescue” succeeded in getting the man up from the side of the cliff by about 5:20 p.m. The man was evaluated by paramedics, and appeared not to have suffered any injuries, firefighters said.
