Early Wednesday morning, students and parents, joined the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and city officials for the annual Bike & Roll to School Week at Rosa Parks Elementary.
Students began their journey to Rosa Parks Elementary at Patricia’s Green at Octavia Boulevard and Hayes and began pedaling to the school.
Supervisor Vallie Brown joined the students from Rosa Parks Elementary in the bike ride along with state Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco).
The City’s Director of Transportation Ed Reiskin also joined the students in the bike ride and in an assembly following the bike ride.
Christopher White, Program Director of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, said in a statement:
“These students are the heroes. Pedaling, scooting, walking and rolling to school is fun and a small step they are taking to change the world.”
The coalition, which organizes the event every year, expected 6,000 students, parents, and school staff to have participated in this year’s Bike & Roll to School Week.
