Elderly woman discovers thief in Outer Mission home

A woman was the victim of a home invasion robbery in San Francisco’s Outer Mission neighborhood on Wednesday morning, police said.

The robbery was reported at about 10:30 a.m. at a residence in the 200 block of Foote Avenue. The 69-year-old victim was in a downstairs room and heard footsteps above her, then went upstairs and found a man taking jewelry, according to police.

The woman tried to confront the man, but he told her to stay in the bedroom and then he fled. No weapon was reported to be used in the theft and the woman was not injured, police said.

The man was described as being in his 20s but police did not release a detailed description of him. He remained at large as of Thursday morning, according to police.
