The pedestrian, identified by the Alameda County coroner’s bureau on Tuesday as Jermaine Butler Sr., was in the southbound lanes of traffic in the 900 block of Market Street at 10:23 a.m. Monday when he was struck by a 2008 Dodge Magnum that was traveling south, according to police. Butler was transported to Highland Hospital in Oakland but died there later, police said.
