One person died and another has been arrested following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday in unincorporated Sonoma County north of Windsor, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said Josmar Ortiz Ortiz, 26, of Windsor, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence after field sobriety tests administered after the collision showed he was above the legal blood-alcohol level of .08-percent.
The collision was reported at 5:50 p.m. on Old Redwood Highway south of Limerick Lane. According to the CHP, Ortiz’s Volkswagen Beetle was traveling southbound and crossed over double-yellow lines and struck a northbound Volkswagen Passat. The driver of the Passat died and a passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Ortiz was booked into the Sonoma County Jail. The victim who died wasn’t identified pending the notification of next of kin.
