A San Mateo man was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm after allegedly breaking the front window of a home and staging a brief standoff with police on Monday, according to police.
Police said Stephen Moon, 35, was taken into custody after a 10-minute negotiation with officers.
According to police, someone reported a possible break-in or vandalism at a home in the 1600 block of York Avenue around 7:20 p.m. Monday. Officers who arrived found Moon walking in and out of a home with a firearm.
Police established a perimeter before getting in touch with Moon, who was known to police, and took him into custody on a no-bail warrant and for allegedly possessing the gun. Police confirmed Moon had permission to be inside the home he was seen walking inside and out of.
Moon has been booked into San Mateo County Jail.
