Pedestrian, scooter rider injured in separate weekend collisions

Two people suffered life-threatening injuries in separate traffic collisions this weekend in San Francisco, police said.

The first collision occurred around 8:55 p.m. Saturday near Van Ness Avenue and Bush Street.

According to police, a vehicle struck an 86-year-old man who was in the street. The man was taken to a hospital. Officers did not arrest the driver, a 42-year-old man.

Further details were not immediately available and the collision remains under investigation, police said.

The second collision occurred around 8:30 a.m. Sunday near the corner of Ninth and Howard streets, according to police.

There, a 30-year-old woman was riding a scooter through the intersection when she made contact with a vehicle.

The woman was taken to a hospital for her life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police did not say whether the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.

The intersection of Ninth and Howard streets is the same intersection where last Tuesday, Allan Quiton allegedly struck 61-year-old Modesto Fegurdo with his vehicle, killing Fegurdo.

Quiton is accused of fleeing the scene and has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter, driving while under the influence of alcohol causing injury, evading an officer and fleeing the scene.
