Car crashes into San Jose fire truck

A San Jose Fire Department firefighter wasn’t injured after a vehicle that eventually crashed into a fire truck early Wednesday morning narrowly missed him, according to San Jose police.

The collision occurred at 3:20 a.m. this morning on the Capitol Expressway at Tuers Road when the firefighter was setting up cones as fire crews battled a fire in a creek when the vehicle, a 2012 Nissan Altima, careened towards him, police said.

The driver of the Altima had to be extricated and was transported to the hospital with injuries not considered life threatening, according to police. No firefighting personnel were injured.

Police said neither drugs nor alcohol factored into the collision.
