Two plead no contest in jail meth case

Two women were released from custody on time served Tuesday after pleading no contest to attempting to bring drugs into a jail in San Mateo County, according to prosecutors.

Anges Banquerigo, 48, and Shelby Noel Myers, 26, were allegedly a part of a conspiracy to mail cards laced with methamphetamine into the Maple Street Correctional Center in Redwood City between October and December of 2017.

Investigators said jail calls uncovered a large ring of inmates working together, and there are at least seven other defendants listed in this case.

Defense attorney Chris Morales said:

“I thought the evidence was fairly weak against Agnes, but the offer was credit for time served, which means if she pleaded … she would get out.”

Defense attorney Emily Andrews, who was representing Myers, was not immediately available to comment on the case.
