A San Jose man was found dead Saturday morning at a Santa Cruz beach, sheriff’s officials reported.
Richard Herrin, 54, had gone surfing at the beach near Pleasure Point near 37th Avenue and East Cliff Drive.
Sheriff’s officials said Herrin was unresponsive and not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:56 a.m.
The Santa Cruz County coroner’s office is investigating his death.
