San Jose police, with the assistance of several other local agencies, arrested 16 people in a large-scale operation on Thursday that targeted a violent criminal gang investigators believe is responsible for a series of crimes.
Several firearms were seized during the arrests, along with ammunition and stolen property, officers said.
Police believe the group to be responsible for seven robberies, six carjackings, 10 burglaries, an assault with a deadly weapon and various other weapon offenses.
Five adults and eleven juveniles, 15 to 17 years old, were detained and booked into Santa Clara County Jail and Juvenile Hall on suspicion of the alleged crimes, according to police.
Alexis Anaya, 19, Jessica Bustos, 18, Diego Diaz, 18, Antonio Gutierrez, 18, and Anwar Mohammad, 21, have been identified as the adults in custody related to the bust. The juveniles’ names are being withheld.
All of the people arrested are San Jose residents, officers said.
