A long-term project to repair 10 miles of eastbound and westbound lanes on Interstate Highway 80 in Contra Costa County will cause overnight lane closures in the upcoming weeks.
The roadwork begins today on Highway 80 in Richmond and will be completed in early November, according to Caltrans officials.
The highway will remain open while construction crews repair pavement, but there will be intermittent lane closures scheduled between Monday and Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
When the project is completed, Caltrans officials said motorists will have a smoother drive between the state Highway 4 interchange in Hercules and the area of Albany between Contra Costa and Alameda counties.
California Highway Patrol officials will help direct traffic and drivers are asked to use caution in the construction zones.
