Two separate highway shootings were reported in Contra Costa County on Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The first shooting occurred around 9:45 p.m. on northbound Interstate Highway 680 south of Treat Boulevard in Walnut Creek.
The victim’s car window was shattered by what he initially thought was a bottle thrown by a suspect, but he later found a bullet fragment in the vehicle and called the CHP.
He was not injured in the shooting, CHP officials said. No other information about the case was immediately available.
Then at about 11:15 p.m., the CHP received another report of a highway shooting, this time on eastbound state Highway 4 near the junction with state Highway 242.
The victim exchanged a few words with the suspect through open windows, then the suspect shot at the victim’s vehicle, according to the CHP.
The victim in the second shooting was also uninjured, CHP officials said.
The cases do not appear to be related and are both being investigated by the investigative services unit of the CHP’s Golden Gate Division.
Anyone with information about either case is asked to call (800) TELL-CHP.
