Raiders host Lions, Packers for preseason matchups

The Oakland Raiders announced their 2018 preseason schedule, including a revenge game for wide receiver Jordy Nelson Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers.

Dates, times and broadcast information will be determined later, according to the Oakland Raiders website.

The Raiders open Week 1 of the preseason against $100 million quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.

This is the first time since 2014 the Raiders will host the Lions at the Oakland Coliseum.

The second preseason game is for bragging rights of loyal LA Raiders fans, as Oakland kicks off in LA against the free agent-spending Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams signed several Pro Bowl veterans this offseason, including cornerbacks Aqib Talib, Bay Area native Marcus Peters and defensive tackle stud Ndamukong Suh. The Rams also traded for wide receiver Brandin Cooks in an attempt to advance further in the NFC playoffs, so the Raiders will  have their hands full.

The dress rehearsal game in Week 3 will see University of California Berkeley alum Aaron Rodgers visit the black hole — but this time, watching former teammate Nelson catch passes from Derek Carr.

Nelson signed with the Raiders as a free agent after the Packers did not re-sign one of Rodgers’€™ favorite targets in Wisconsin.

The preseason schedule closes out with a trip to Seattle, as both teams match up to end the preseason for the 13th consecutive season. This will be the first time since 2015, though, that the Raiders will travel up north for the matchup.
