The winners of the Sixth Annual East Bay Innovation Awards were announced Thursday at Oakland’s Fox Theater, organizers said.
Nominees represented businesses and organizations from 11 East Bay cities.
Competitive awards were given in eight categories. Therm-X in Hayward won the advanced manufacturing award. Smart Wires Inc. in Union City won the clean tech award while PilotCity in San Leandro took home the prize for education.
The engineering and design award went to Velodyne LiDAR of Alameda. Impossible Foods of Oakland won the food award and Chirp Microsystems in Berkeley won the prize for information and/or communication technology.
Hayward-based RefleXion Medical won the life sciences prize and the catalyst of the year award went to Contra Costa Transportation Authority-GoMentum Station, Walnut Creek and Concord.
GoMentum Station is the country’s largest secure testing center for autonomous and connected vehicle technology.
