A teacher accidentally discharged a firearm at Seaside High School on Tuesday afternoon while he was believed to have been giving a public safety presentation, according to Seaside police.
At approximately 1:20 p.m., officers were called to the school at 2200 Noche Buena St. and identified the teacher as Dennis Alexander, police said.
Alexander is a reserve police officer for the Sand City Police Department, Seaside police said. Sand City police were not immediately available for comment.
No one was seriously injured during the incident, police said. School resumed shortly after the shooting occurred.
Seaside police will be working closely with high school officials as a part of their investigation, according to police.
