Sonoma man arrested twice for DUI over weekend

The same man was arrested twice for DUI violations near Santa Rosa this weekend, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP first encountered the man on Friday at about 5 p.m. on Mountain View Avenue in unincorporated Sonoma County. Officers saw a truck weaving in and out of the lane while towing a trailer.

Officers stopped the truck on Synder Lane, but said the truck veered off the road and fell into a drainage ditch when the driver tried to pull over.

The CHP identified the driver as Felipe Celis, 41, of Sonoma. He was arrested and booked for a DUI after an evaluation, according to the CHP.

Two days later on Sunday, the CHP responded to a hit-and-run collision at 2:30 p.m. on Grange Road.

A witness told the CHP that he heard a crash near his property, and saw that a green Ford truck had hit a rock wall and tree near his home.

He told officers that the driver then fled the scene in the vehicle, but left behind the license plate. The CHP ran the plates and found that it belonged to Celis.

After a search, officers found the truck parked on Grange Road.

They said they found Celis working inside.

Celis told officers that he lost control while driving when a tire blew out, according to the CHP.

He was allegedly intoxicated, according to the CHP, and he was again arrested for a DUI in addition to a misdemeanor hit-and-run.
