The girl was walking north on Clay Bank Road near Sprig Court around 9:35 a.m. when someone in a passing vehicle shot her, Sgt. Matt Bloesch said.
The car continued driving north toward Air Base Parkway after the shooting. Police closed Clay Bank Road for about an hour during the investigation, Bloesch said.
The shooting is not believed to be a random act. The girl suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening and she is in stable condition at a hospital, Bloesch said.
