A San Jose school district superintendent confirmed Wednesday evening that a threat made by a Twitter user saying they wanted to “shoot up” schools in the area was deemed by police to pose no threat.
Alum Rock Unified School District Superintendent Hilaria Bauer said in statement that after learning of the social media threat, the district immediately contacted police.
“I worked with the San Jose Police Department and they concluded that there is no imminent danger to any of our schools. Please make sure your students are ready and come to school in the morning,” Bauer said in a video message posted on the school district’s Facebook page.
In addition, Bauer said that the district has contacted Twitter, “requesting they take the appropriate steps to investigate the statement made on their platform.”
