Morgan Hill police up patrols after man offers girl a ride

Police have increased patrols near Jackson Park in Morgan Hill after a man driving a car pulled up next to a young girl and asked her whether she wanted a ride, police said Saturday.

The girl’s mother told police that at about 4:30 p.m. Feb. 2 a man driving a dark-colored, beat-up sedan pulled up next to the girl as she walking near Trail Drive and Barrett Avenue.

Police said the child declined the offer and the man drove off.

Officers are currently working with officials with the Morgan Hill Unified School District to keep students in the city safe.

Police said they’ve learned of possible similar events through social media but these incidents were not reported to police.

Anyone with information about the incident or similar incidents is asked to call Sgt. Troy Hoefling at (669) 253-4974 or (408) 779-2101.
