The Athletics and NBC Sport California have filled their television broadcast team for the 2018 season, the team announced Wednesday.
Former A’s pitcher Dallas Braden will carry out the color commentary duties in 35 game broadcasts, while also filling the newly crated role of “field analyst” in another 54. Braden spent the 2017 season as a studio analyst on NBC Sports California’s “A’s Pregame Live” and “A’s Postgame Live.”
In a press release put out by the A’s, VP of Content Strategy for NBC Sports California David Koppett said:
“Dallas Braden provides a rare combination of deep baseball knowledge, passion for the game and love for the green and gold. He has a true connection with A’s fans, and we’re looking forward to seeing him in a much more substantial role in 2018.”
Kara Tsuboi, who has served as the Oakland Coliseum in-stadium host since the 2009 season, joins the TV team as the sideline reporter for a limited number of home games.
Tsuboi will also continue carrying out her prior duties, according to the team.
The A’s also announced that Ray Fosse will be returning to the booth for his 34th year, offering his continued to color commentary to both the television and radio teams.
