A man was seriously injured in an attack in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood early Wednesday morning, according to police.
The suspect, described as a 51-year-old man, allegedly chased down a 38-year-old man and struck him with a stick in the area of Fifth and Bryant streets around 4:30 a.m., police said.
When the victim fell to the ground, the suspect allegedly jumped on him and punched him. Police were notified when a witness driving by called 911.
The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect’s identity was not immediately released by police.
