A driver has been arrested after fleeing the scene of a collision with a pedestrian in unincorporated San Mateo County early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Simon Gonzalez was arrested after the collision reported at about 2:25 a.m. at 2490 Middlefield Road near Redwood City.
A male pedestrian was crossing the road from west to east just south of Flynn Avenue when a southbound vehicle hit him and then continued driving, CHP officials said.
The pedestrian was taken to Stanford Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released.
Officers were eventually able to locate the suspect vehicle, a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria, and arrested Gonzalez at his home in Redwood City, according to the CHP.
