Starting Friday, the Athletics will make tickets available for the third deck at the Oakland Coliseum.
Team president Dave Kaval made the announcement through a Facebook Live broadcast Tuesday.
In a press release issued by the team, Kaval added that 1,000 of the 36,067 Opening Day tickets sold were standing room only. He said:
“The best fans in baseball deserve the opportunity to experience the whole stadium.”
View level tickets are available for $15 starting with Friday’s game against the Houston Astros and through the upcoming 10-game homestand. Half the proceeds from those sales will be donated to Oakland Promise — an initiative aiming to triple the number of college graduates from Oakland within the next 10 years.
The partnership is another attempt to deepen the bond between the club and its community, Kaval said.
Tarps in the “Mt. Davis” section will remain, with sections 300 to 315 and 319 to 334 being uncovered. This will add 12,103 additional seats for the next homestand, with further information regarding the sale of tickets in these sections for future games to made available at the end of the homestand.
“We heard from fans that wanted us to open up additional seats including the upper deck. We want them to know we are listening to them and responding.”
