Photo released of man wanted in assault

Police released a photo Monday that shows one of two suspects wanted in an unprovoked assault at a Campbell restaurant last month that left the victim with a broken jaw.

The assault happened around 10 p.m. on Oct. 9 when the victim was in line at Taco Bravo restaurant at 1950 S. Bascom Ave., across the street from The Pruneyard shopping center, police Capt. Gary Berg said.

The suspects approached a man from behind, then kicked and punched him to the ground before leaving the area, Berg said.

The victim was hospitalized for significant injuries, including a broken jaw, fractured rib and some lacerations, according to Berg.

The suspects are both described as men in their mid 20s, weighing between 180 to 200 pounds and standing about 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall.

The suspect in the photo sent out by police via Twitter is Hispanic, had short dark hair and possibly had a mustache, according to Berg.

The other suspect is believed to be white with blond hair, Berg said.

The suspects and victim didn’t know one another and it’s not clear what prompted the attack, according to Berg.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information on the case is asked to contact police by calling the investigations unit at (408) 871-5190 or sending a tip through the department’s mobile app.
