Officer, suspect hospitalized after shooting

A law enforcement officer with the San Mateo County Vehicle Theft Task Force was injured in an incident in San Francisco’s Oceanview neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, police said.

San Francisco police said shortly after 4:20 p.m. that they were responding to an officer-involved shooting involving an outside agency.

Police said three officers from three different agencies affiliated with the vehicle theft task force were in a single vehicle when they followed a wanted Honda from San Mateo County into San Francisco.

When they approached the vehicle around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Faxon Avenue and Montana Street a shooting occurred, police said.

A suspect was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

An officer was transported to a hospital with injuries not considered life threatening, but police declined to state how the injury occurred or what agency the officer works for.

Redwood City CHP officials said on social media that a CHP officer was injured. They declined to release further information about the incident, however.
