The Dubs trimmed their roster early Thursday cutting point guard Phil Pressey, and wings Cameron Jones and Elliot Williams, which left JaVale McGee as the only camp invite left standing.
McGee has flashed his potential during the preseason, even jumping ahead of Anderson Varejao and James Michael McAdoo in the rotation during the last preseason game. McGee has averaged 5.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks while playing in all six preseason games.
When camp started it seemed to be a two-man battle between McGee and Williams to make the final spot but Williams has been sidelined for the entire preseason after undergoing knee surgery.
The athletic big man appears to have made good on his make-good contract.
