Man toting two guns robs laundromat

Police in Salinas are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Friday at a laundromat.

Officers with the Salinas Police Department responded at 9:08 p.m.

to the 600 block of East Alisal Street on a report of a robbery.

Police said a man with a gray beard entered the laundromat with a gun in each hand and attempted to rob three people.

The suspect first approached a 22-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman and demanded their money, police said.

The man handed over his wallet with a small amount of cash and his cellphone.

The woman, who was holding her 1-year-old child, told the suspect she didn’t have any money.

The suspect then approached a 35-year-old man and attempted to rob him, police said.

When the victim showed the suspect his empty wallet, the suspect pistol-whipped the victim across the face.

The suspect took the man’s empty wallet and his cellphone and fled the establishment.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man in his 40s with a gray beard, 5 feet 7 inches tall and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a black ski mask and blue jeans. He was armed with two guns.
