Hit-and-run drivers kill two bicyclists

Police are investigating two different hit-and-run collisions that left bicyclists dead Thursday in San Francisco, according to a department spokesman.

The first incident was reported at 30th Avenue and John F. Kennedy Drive around 6 p.m.

A white Honda that may have been on the wrong side of the road struck a cyclist, who later died. The suspect remains at large, according to Officer Carlos Manfredi.

While investigators were still at the scene of that crash a second fatal hit-and-run collision was reported in SOMA near the intersection of Seventh and Howard streets around 8:30 p.m.

The suspect driver allegedly ran a red light before striking a man on a bicycle and fleeing the scene. Officers were able to locate and apprehend the driver, Manfredi said.

Traffic will be affected in the area as police investigate the collision. Manfredi asked drivers to avoid the area until around midnight.
