A 29-year-old transient man was arrested Thursday night in Mountain View on suspicion of prowling and other offenses, police said Friday.
Melecio Macawile Jr. was arrested after officers responded at 9:15 p.m. to the 2000 block of San Luis Avenue where residents reported seeing Macawile looking into cars.
Officers spotted Macawile when they began to search the area.
Macawile tried to leave the area when officers spotted him and officers detained him, police said.
Macawile allegedly had a baton with him that was attached to a tactical vest he was wearing. Police also allege he had drug paraphernalia and burglary tools with him.
Officers arrested Macawile on suspicion of prowling and possessing a baton, burglary tools and drug paraphernalia.
Macawile was booked into the county jail.
