Police in Salinas Thursday morning are investigating a shooting that killed two people Wednesday night.
Officers with the Salinas Police Department responded at approximately 11:30 p.m. to the 800 block of La Cuesta Court on a report of a shooting.
Police said two men were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victims were identified as a 41-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, both from Salinas.
Police have not released the victims’ names.
Police said the investigation is in the beginning stages, and there isn’t much known about what occurred.
The victims do not appear to be associated with any gangs, police said.
Several witnesses heard shots fired, but there are few witnesses to the shooting.
Police said it is unknown if the victims knew each other or just happened to be in the area.
The shootings are not yet being investigated as gang-related.
The deaths mark the 14th and 15th homicides in Salinas this year, according to police.
