Police ‘neutralize’ St. Luke’s shooter

A shooter at California Pacific Medical Center’s St. Luke’s campus in San Francisco’s Mission District Tuesday afternoon has been “neutralized,” a police spokesman said.

The incident concluded with multiple police officers opening fire, according to police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza, but the condition of the suspect was not immediately released.

UPDATE 7:18 p.m. St. Luke’s shooter had just stolen rifle, ammunition.

Police first responded to reports of the shooter at the hospital at 3555 Cesar Chavez St. at about 4 p.m., Esparza said.

A SWAT team was called to the area. Streets in the area remain shut down and police are asking for residents to avoid the area.
