A motorist struck and killed a pedestrian in Walnut Creek near the Pleasant Hill BART station Monday morning, according to police.
Walnut Creek police said the collision occurred at 7:50 a.m. on eastbound Treat Boulevard near Candelero Drive. The pedestrian was taken to John Muir Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead about an hour later, police Lt. Lanny Edwards said.
The female driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, Edwards said. There is no indication that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision, he said.
Eastbound Treat Boulevard, a main thoroughfare in Walnut Creek, will be closed from Cherry Lane to Bancroft Road until noon, Edwards said.
