Victim hospitalized after Mission Street stabbing

A man suffered serious injuries when he was stabbed in the chest in San Francisco’s Mission District early Sunday morning, police said.

San Francisco police said that the roommate of the victim alerted them to the stabbing at about 2:30 a.m.

The victim, a man in his late 30s, was apparently stabbed while on Mission Street and had arrived at his residence in the vicinity of Mission and 16th streets suffering from a stab wound to the chest.

The victim’s roommate called 911 and emergency crews transported the victim to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing and that it remains unclear whether anything was stolen from the victim.

The motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.
