A passerby foiled a kidnapping attempt when a man tried to lead a 9-year-old girl into his van as she walked to school in San Francisco’s Bayview District on Friday morning, police said Tuesday.
The girl was walking near the corner of Osceola Lane and La Salle Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. when a man in his 20s grabbed her by the collar and tried to lead her into his brown van, police said.
A passerby saw what was happening, stepped in and the man left.
Police arrived and the girl was treated there for pain to her back and neck.
The suspect remains at large, according to police.
