A woman who suffered blunt force trauma to the head was found dead in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Saturday morning, according to police.
The victim’s identity had not been determined as of this morning, according to the medical examiner’s office.
San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said today that a passerby reported the woman’s death, which is being investigated as a homicide, around 9:15 a.m. Saturday.
The passerby discovered the body near the intersection of John F.
Kennedy and Chain of Lakes drives, according to police.
The woman suffered blunt force trauma to her head and was pronounced dead by officers in Golden Gate Park.
Esparza said the victim was in her mid 20s to mid 30s and does not appear to have been a transient.
The homicide remains under investigation and no suspects have been arrested.
Golden Gate Park attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the city’s 15th annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival.
Police have not said whether the woman attended the festival on Friday nor released any information on how she came to be in the park.
