Crews have completed roadwork to reduce traffic onto northbound Interstate Highway 280 ramps and improve safety and traffic flow to Interstate Highway 880 in Santa Clara County, Caltrans officials said Friday.
The $62.3 million project widened and realigned the I-880 /Stevens Creek Boulevard interchange and improved bicyclist and pedestrian access, according to Caltrans.
Crews also built a direct connector from northbound I-280 to northbound I-880 and a new off-ramp to Monroe Street from southbound I-880.
Caltrans officials said motorists will be able to more easily reach O’Connor Hospital and Valley Fair Mall businesses with the new off-ramp.
Caltrans director Malcolm Dougherty said in a statement that everyone will benefit from this project:
“This is a win-win for commuters, businesses, pedestrians, bicyclists and local residents.”
