An inmate at the Martinez Detention Facility attempted suicide Tuesday morning, according to a spokesman for the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 7:30 a.m. facility staff found the inmate unresponsive and rendered aid. An ambulance was called to the facility and the inmate was transported to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, according to sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee.
The inmate is not currently being identified, but Lee said he was still in the hospital as of 6:30 p.m. this evening. Further details about the inmate’s current condition were not immediately available.
