A 9-year-old boy who was stabbed to death in his Discovery Bay home on Sunday morning was identified today as Jordan Almgren, a Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman said.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of the stabbing in the 1900 block of Frost Way at about 10 a.m. Sunday, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
When they arrived, the deputies learned a family member had already taken Almgren to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office broadcast the name and description of a suspect in the case, 18-year-old William Schultz, and arrested him sometime before 4 p.m., Lee said.
So far, sheriff’s officials have not disclosed a possible motive in the stabbing.
Anyone with information about the case has been asked to call the sheriff’s office at (925) 646-2441.
