Burglars strike home twice in a night

Concord police are seeking two suspects from an attempted burglary, including a man who discarded a gun, during a foot chase with police early Friday morning, police said.

At 2:36 a.m., police responded to a report of people trying to break into a residence in the 1800 block of David Avenue, police said.

When officers arrived at the scene, police said the suspects were gone.

Officers got another call at 4:57 a.m. on a report that the suspects had returned to the same house and were again trying to break in.

Police arrived and saw three males walking from the area of the victim’s house, heading towards a vehicle that was parked around the corner, police said.

The officers challenged the males and police said they took one of the suspects into custody without incident.

Police said the other two males, one of whom was seen in possession of a firearm, fled on foot.

Police found the firearm discarded nearby but said an exhaustive search of the area did not return the remaining two suspects.

Officers found weapons commonly associated with robberies inside the suspects’ vehicle, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Concord Police Department at (925) 671-5836.
