Pit bull rescued in Silver Terrace fire

A pit bull was saved in a one-alarm fire at a home in San Francisco’s Silver Terrace neighborhood this morning that displaced three residents, a fire dispatcher said.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at a two-story home in the 2100 block of Revere Avenue around 8:10 a.m., the dispatcher said.

Three residents were inside the home and evacuated on their own before firefighters arrived, according to the dispatcher.

Fire crews found a pit bull inside the residence that they evacuated, he said.

The dog was fine after emergency crews administered oxygen, according to the dispatcher.

The city’s Department of Animal Care and Control was called to the scene to evaluate the pit bull, the dispatcher said.

The American Red Cross was called to assist two adults and a child displaced by the fire, according to the dispatcher.

It appears the blaze started in the home’s living room, possibly by a space heater on a couch, the dispatcher said.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
