San Jose shooting near nightclub injures five

Five people have been shot this morning near a San Jose nightclub, San Jose police said.

The San Jose police 911 Communications Center received a call at about 1:20 a.m. concerning a person who was shot in the 3800 block of Monterey Road.

When officers arrived they found four people with at least one gunshot wound each, police said.

The four were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries, according to police.

Later another victim walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound that was not considered life-threatening, police said.

Police have detained several people in the investigation, they said. Officers were canvassing the area as of about 3 a.m. this morning, according to police.

Officers are investigating the circumstances and the motives in the shootings.
