The San Jose police 911 Communications Center received a call at about 1:20 a.m. concerning a person who was shot in the 3800 block of Monterey Road.
When officers arrived they found four people with at least one gunshot wound each, police said.
UPDATE 11:26 a.m. Five shot at Chris Brown party in San Jose expected to survive.The four were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries, according to police.
Later another victim walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound that was not considered life-threatening, police said.
Police have detained several people in the investigation, they said. Officers were canvassing the area as of about 3 a.m. this morning, according to police.
Officers are investigating the circumstances and the motives in the shootings.
