A 5-year-old Pacifica girl may have drowned in her bathtub on Saturday, police said Monday.
Personnel from the Pacifica Police Department, North County Fire Authority, and American Medical Response ambulance service responded to a report of a possible drowning in the 200 block of Lauren Avenue in Pacifica at 11:45 a.m., police said.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a 5-year-old girl unresponsive and not breathing, police said. A passerby and emergency personnel performed lifesaving measures at the scene.
Police said the girl was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police said witnesses indicated the child had been in the bathtub and at some point was located by a family member submerged in the water and unresponsive.
Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the child‘s death.
