Bay Bridge crash injures at least seven

Fire crews and medical personnel are responding to a multi-vehicle collision on the eastern span of the Bay Bridge this evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded to the report at 8:27 p.m., said CHP Off. William Ogilvie.

At least seven people are injured, three of them critically, according to the San Francisco fire dispatch, and several fire units from both San Francisco and Oakland are responding.

At least two lanes are closed on the bridge as CHP and fire crews respond, Ogilvie said.

The San Francisco fire dispatch said units are preparing to close all of the lanes to allow Oakland fire and ambulance crews access to the crash site.

CHP first received a report of a person driving the wrong way on the bridge, but Ogilvie said he was not yet sure if the two incidents were related.
