Police are investigating the death of a male found unresponsive on Santa Rosa Junior College’s front lawn this morning.
Campus police officers were called to the area bordering Mendocino Avenue and Elliott Avenue shortly before 10:15 a.m. on a report of an unresponsive person lying in the grass.
The male subject did not have a pulse and was cold to the touch, and medical personnel called to the scene pronounced him dead at 10:20 a.m., police said.
Campus police are working with Santa Rosa city police investigators to determine the cause of death, which remains unclear.
Officers initially found signs of trauma consistent with assault, but investigators later found evidence that suicide might have been the cause instead.
Police have tentatively identified the deceased subject and determined that he is not a student at the junior college.
